hi everyone....im a overlocking newbie... i have a first generation p4 1.3ghz with 128 mb of pc-600 rdram and a gainward geforce4ti4200 128mb. my 3dmark sucked like crap - it was 6054. i know a 1.3 ghz is not that fast anymore, but a 6054 with a geforce4ti? i was flaming mad. now i dont have much money.... spent it all on the ipod... but i like to think about overclocking my system. how far can i overclock my processor and geforce4ti4200. what applicaitons are there that does the overclocking over do i have to maually open the computer up and tweak it physically? thanx for listening and please respond.

That 1.3ghz willamette will not gain you much...maybe 1.4-1.5 if you are lucky....Remember the old p4's with 256kb of cacha and tha 1.3 p4 is not much faster then a 1 to 1.1ghz athlon....

Also...

1) you are running pc600 and the slower platform that it ran off of...

2)GF4 ti4200 can oc to its own levels but could be sensitive to fsb boosting as it jacks the agp and pci bus speeds...

I would think that 7000 would be the best you could get with it...

1) Latest drivers for card, make sure old drivers are properly uninstalled
2) Memroy speed increases will garner you the biggest increases....could gain 1000 by tweaking mem speeds of pc600 or ram on card alone.

MOst of the tweaking and overclocking is done via the BIOS if I'm correct. Multipler, Voltage, FSB, and much more. Mainly a combination when O/Cing... Also depends on what cooling you have.
