Hey guys,
I'm sure that there was already a post about this, but personally I don't have the time to go hunting through the site. Plus, I'm a newb in OCing and mostly all the sticky's were about shit Ive never even heard of. Pretty much, it's an easy task that I'm asking (from what I hear). I want to overclock my AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice to an exceptional speed (Hence "OLD"). I heard that overclocking though Ai booster is a bad idea and that the BIOS is the premium method. Like I said, I don't really want to go to crazy since it is an old processor and because I really don't need to do it. It's more of a personal thing I'm going for, you know, just to try it out. So, if you guys could take the time to help me, it would be respectfully appreciated -pkellz

honestly if you don't have time to do a search on socket 939 overclocking, you probably don't have time to bother with overclocking.

1. lower HT multi, DRAM multi, set DRAM timings manually in BIOS rather than use SPD.
2. increase FSB, or if your chip is multi-unlocked, you can increase the multi too.
3. increase vcore when it errors, repeat at 2, until vcore exceeds safe amount, or temps get too bad running prime95.
