i just got my 2500 in today and ive never overclocked anything before. i out the FSB to 183? i think, so now its at 2002 mhz. my memory is set to auto adjust to the FSB of my cpu i think. is that possible, or am i imagining that happen??. also, should i change the multipliers any? or should i just leave it as default and just up the FSB?

Have you done any kind of stability test?(Prime 95) If you are stable now, continue to up the fsb. If not, relax your ram timings and see if that helps stability. You should be able to get to or past 200fsb. Once you have found the limit of your CPU then you can tighten up the ram timing and see what kind of benchmark numbers you get.

The multipliers are unlocked so you can adjust them. You might as well see how high you can go at that FSB.

I'd loosen the timings, up the vDIMM, set the system performance to expert, set the memory to 100%, up the Vcore a bit, and shoot for 400DDR synch mode. If it just won't get to 2.2ghz even with 1.8v+ then drop the multiplier to 10.5 and try, then if it's still not stable it'll most likely be the ram.

im at 190 FSB, which i guess is decent considering i have like the first revision of the A7N8X(bought it around X-mas). i tried 195, wouldnt boot into windows. my pc 2700 is running the 190 FSB at 2 2 2 5 timings, hows that for kick ass??? any ideas for what i can do to hit 200 FSB?

might as well try kicking the multiplier up a notch or two, worst that could happen is that you would have to turn it back down.

Im a newbie in overclocking so im probabily doing some mistakes but....
I have the same revision as u do and today i got to 200mhz fsb with memories sync. I have PC2700 Kingston memories.

Offtopic question: Im running with only ONE stick of DDR so im not using the dual channel, if i use two sticks, will i run the memories at double speed?

Nice! No vdd chipset voltage adjustments on that board eh?

ok i will break down what i consider the ideal:
1: get teh latest bios for the agp/pci lock
2: drop the multiplyer to 10x
3: Up the fsb to 200
4: Run the ram in synch mode(1:1)

and with that setup you will get DDR400 with a 2.0ghz proc. and if you are not satisfied there up the multiplier to 10.5 or 11 and you will get 2.1 and 2.2 ghz.

EDIT : oh some vcore or vdimm adjustments may be in order depending on your proc and ram. from what you have said i don't think vdimm will be necesary and vcore shouldn't have to go up much if at all.

i am just saying that means that your ram is realy wewll overclocked but if you do change your multiplier you have the oportunity to get that 2700 to perform like 3200 with the same or if you want a higher proc speed.

you guys who are hitting walls around 185 or so, I can tell you right now where your issue lies.

A little background:

I had an 1800+ TbredA which I ran at 217fsb using Corsair 3200 on a Chaintech 7NJS. After switching to a 2500+, I was getting stuck at 185, but I knew my system could run fine with A LOT more FSB speed.

So after tons of research and questioning, I performed the L-12 cut mod. This switched the chip from 333fsb to 266fsb by default. It was this mod that has now allowed me to return again to 217! I swear its like friggin magic. No one can really explain how or why this mod works, but I have a feeling that chipsets like the Nforce2 automatically adjust certain timings (which remain invisible to the user) depending on the FSB of the chip by default when it looks at what chip is installed. Bumping down to 266 must relax some timing that otherwise prevents a higher FSB overclock.

So if youre doubting your processor and have faith in the rest of your system, cut the L-12 bridge, I promise you that youll see some results.
