anyways...i have an amd 1700+ with 256 mb crcuial pc2100 ram... right now i am running at 133 fsb with ax-7 hs and fan
Should I increase my fsb to 140 or increase my mult and what is the difference between them?
thanx -Limone

you can do both... first, try your FSB ... see what the limit of your RAM is...

then start upping your vcore

then up your mult... with the 1700+, you have access of mults up to 12.5

goodluck!

I agree with Shimmishim with one exception. I would up the multiplier before upping the vcore.

well "technicallY" you are at the limit of your ram(pc2100=133mhz)
but if you relax timings (make them biggest #'s possible) and perhaps increase Vdimm, it will most likley go furhter cuz its crucial
just how far is unknown...you may get to 166mhz (pc2700) or not even make it to 140mhz...

if its the ram, buy some more
its really cheap now i just noticed...

You can find out the limit of your ram by bumping the fsb. Try 140 and run memtest86. If you pass all the tests try bumping fsb a little more until memtest86 fails. The highest speed that memtest passes is the limit of your ram.

The difference between changing your fsb and your multiplier is that when you bump the multiplier you are only increasing the speed of the cpu. When you bump the fsb you are increasing the speed of everything... the cpu the ram the pci bus ide bus and agp slot.

So you get more bang for your buck by bumping the fsb but you have a lot of things that can get flakey when adjusting it so take baby steps.
