I am running a AMD 2600+ Barton with a L2 512 cache,2 256 Mushkin PC 3500 running in duel channel With a Albatron N-force 2 Ultra 400.
I go into the bios to increase the FSB to 200 and I also increase the voltage to the CPU to 1.700 from 1.650.
My CPU clock ratio is at 11.5 and my Problem is it will not boot up from that, it will tell me its applying the settings then the screen is black and I have to reset and let it apply the default bios settings back.
I have got it to run at a stable 190 FSB, 2.19 GHz.
The Cpu Temp is at 43C.
Is this the highest I can get it? or am I doing some thing wrong, please help.

This is the RAM I have

You trying to run 2300 Mhz at to low volts is my guess. Try 166 bus speed with a 14 multiplier = ~2300 if it still don't want to boot thats the problem.. to low Vcore. Bump up to 1.75 or 1.775 and try again.

When processor overclocking always set ram to 3-3-3-11 so you can be positive it's not ram inhibiting your OC.

even with pc3500 you should be able to run 200 mhz assuming you haven't changed any of the mem timings and just left them at SPD or auto (whatever your mobo setting is in the bios).

11.5 x 200 = 2300 so you may need lil more voltage to get it to boot. why don't you try 1.75 volts and see if it'll boot... if not try 1.775 and work your way up!

I set my cpu volts to 1.775 and 200 fsb and it booted to the windows login but it kept resetting it self before I could enter my pass.
Now I can't get my internet browser to come up and im on back up CPU posting this.
Everything else comes up fine though.
Once I get my browser to open, ill set the ram to 3-3-3-11.

I did the ram thing and it still resets at the windows log in.
Should I increase the voltage from 1.775?

Every 2600+ chip I've used thus far has been able to do 200Mhz fsb without touching the voltage.

It's not really the VCore that effects the ability to run higher FSB speeds... I'd be hesitant to throw 1.8 volts at it... especially if you have a board the overvolts. I noticed you don't have a mobile 2600+... don't expect more than 2200 Mhz. Some of them just aren't capable of it, period. Don't get confused... the mobile 2600's, 2500's, and 2400's are special and that's why they're selected to be mobile processors. They are one step above the regular desktop CPU's.

ARH!
I tried to load it and it reseted on me.
I try to load anything other than my internet browser, it resets.
I have turned it back down, and now asking for help on what I should do.
Is 190 the max I can over clock?

Again this is a non-moblie... 2300 is a kickass overclock and very unusual for your chip no matter Vcroe. Many recent regular bartons such as yours have trouble even making it to 2200 (ie 3200+) which is another reason why moblie is so darn popular.

Personally I'd be happy with your first OC "190 FSB, 2.19 GHz"

Armymoose, there's now way you can get that regular Barton 2600 to run at 2.3 Ghz stably without giving it major amount of voltage. I had a regular Barton that runs stable at 2.368 Ghz, but only at 2.03 volts! You're lucky to get that thing to boot at 1.8 volts at 2300 Mhz.

Hey I turned my Ram voltage to 2.80 and my CPU to 1.850 and I have had no problems so far.
I have tested games, appz and benchmarks and they work great :D

My 2600 barton doesn't like running at 11.5 * 200 either - I just run it at 11 * 200 - which is 2200Mhz (XP3200) at stock voltages, and it works fine with me.

uhmmm... when did they come out with a 2600 Barton? I thought they just had the 2500 Barton and 2800 Barton. I thought the 2600+ was just regular run of the mill and didn't overclock like the 2500 and 2800...

I have just dropped a 2600 barton into my rig in place of my 2500 Mobile and I just went straight to 11.5 x 200 I didn't mess around with slow speeds, well what's the point, and it took 1.85VCore for it to be rock solid, thats on a rev 1 ASUS A7N8X Delux board with 2 x 512 Twinmos 3200 TwinX.
