Overclocking my 2500+ with an Antec Aeroflow?

I am looking to overclock my Barton 2500+ that I will soon be getting and would like it to reach about 2.2Ghz. Obviously I will need and aftermarket cooler and have been looking at the Antec Aeroflow. I have read that it is very good when everything is at stock speeds, but how does it perform when the chip speeds up? My first choice would be a thermalright heatsink with a nice fan, but my area does not have any so I am looking at this Aeroflow. Thanks for the help.

My barton 2500+ is@2.3ghz and even with a high ambient temp of 27c and case temp of 39-41c it's running at 54c right now under a super heavy Gromacs WU load 24/7 rock solid stable.

So your saying then that the Aeroflow will be perfect for my need then. Excellent!

Do you mean the Vantec, instead of Antec?

I am interested in the Vantec Aeroflow. Don't see a whole lot about it here.

The Thermalrights still seem to rule, but the Aeroflow seems to be very respectable from everything I have read. It is shadowed by the Thermalright HS, but it does have a following of its own. I would say go for it.

I've got a Vantec Aeroflow on my Barton XP2500+, and it works great. Used old AS2 as thermal interface.

Stock speeds (167*11 = 1836) on Asus A7N8X reported idle temps of around 33-34 C, peak load around 39 C (case temps around 26-27 C). Stock voltage of 1.65 is detected as about 1.7 on asus probe (asus boards are known to overvolt slightly).

"Mild" o/c to 2800+ speeds (167*12.5 = 2.088) gives idle temps of around 37 C, peak load at 43 C, with a slight bump in voltage to 1.675 (detected as 1.725). Perfectly stable.

So you are looking at a 3-4 C change by increasing to 2.088. I've tried running it higher with a 200FSB bus, and it is perfectly stable, but I have to underclock my memory (I only have PC333). For now, I'm leaving at 2800+ speeds.

It's a great cooler.

I ahve read in reviews that it is supoosed to be pretty quiet for the cooling it gives. It is supposed to be a lot quieter then any Volcano HSF. Like one review put it "It will not break any records, but it is better then most."

I'm trying to decide between the Aeroflow or an SLK-800. Supposedly quieter fans still cool extremely well with the SLK-800, which makes me want to lean that direction. I guess I'll never know, though. Can I truly live life without knowing? ;)
