Overclocking Issue

Hello all,

This is the first overclock I have done in a long time.
I have a E6300 rev L2, a Gigabyte 965P-S3 (rev1, I believe) with Bios F4, and 2GB of Cosair CM2X1024-6400 DDR2.

I have just tried some mild overclocks and I get the same result. I change my CPU frequency, adjust my memory ratio to 1:1, and manually set my vcore to 1.3250. I boot, the computer runs fine. I reboot, and I sit there at a black screen and the fans are running. Nothing comes up on the screen. Then I have to open up the case, clear the CMOS, and it boots with corrupted CMOS, which I then set back to the defaults and everything works normally.

Today, I even ran Orthos for over 4 hours with no errors. I noticed after the first clearing of my cmos, it nows reports my Tjunction as 85c, which it was 100c. Here is a screen shot.Screen Shot

The only thing I can think of is to update the BIOS. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thats too high for the vcore, just a couple of ticks more beyond what it is.. I have the same re-boot problem. When suttting down, hit the power button after it tries to shut down, then hold it until its down, then one more to power up, and you are fine. Very wierd.

I got the same mobo running F12 Bios so update that first. What PSU do you have on your rig? I had to upgrade to a 600W PSU because I was just over the 500W limit of my old one and it was giving me issues. Finally, use this article to make sure all voltages are set right:

Good luck.

Well, right now it looks like the only way I can get it to consistently reboot is to use vcore of 1.44375. I would prefer to get a little bit lower. I have tested 1.40625, 1.42500, and 1.43750. None of which want to reboot. I may do some more testing later. Right now I am at 2.8GHz, so I have yet to touch my RAM. That may be a project for next week.

Thanks for everyone's help.
