overclocking in xp

I'm running an AMD 800 Mhz processor and Im using Windows XP. I tried to overclock to 900mhz and when I do, XP doesnt load. It says there is not even an OS! So I put it back to 800mhz and it loads fine again. I've overclocked before, even to 1Ghz, in Win 2K and it all worked lovely. So why am I now haveing probs with XP??

I dont think its being pushed to far. Like I said, I ran it on 2000 at 900mhz and 1Ghz without a problem.

correct me if i wrong...and i think i am... but i assume that it has to do with the syncronization of the peripherials in my pc not being in tune together. i guess because when i overclock to say a unit over 944Mhz, my pc doesnt detect a keyboard and says something about there being a drive in the floppy. Then when i try to overclock to a gig, i always have to reset my bios because my pc doesnt boot.

Stupid computer. I will jus buy another mobo and cpu

If *ANY* OS doesn't work when OCed, but works at normal speed, it is a hardware problem... you're just getting lucky on the ones that do work.

yeah well i guess i dont know what im doing. I try to get the right multiplyer number with the right pci clock so it equals 1000Mhz but i just can. there is an option where i can add up to 28 mhz, and i tried it so that it would equal 1000 but still didnt work. I dont exactly know what i should be doing.
