Overclocking i3/i5 questions

I'm familiar with overclocking 775 and i7. What's different with i3? With i7 I just raised the base clock, loosened ram timings and added a little juice, left CPU voltage alone, and added a little juice to QPI. How do I overclock i3?

be sure to get sub-1600 ddr3 memory. shoot for 1333-1600mhz and low latencies on your choice.

looking back, i wished i had chosen an i3 540, i really wish i had the extra 1x multiplier that the 540 gets. odd multipliers are better than even ones for OCing.
as you raise BCLK rate the QPI link speed will also rise relative to BCLK. the i3 is rated at having a 2.13GHz QPI link speed.

i have noticed that having a QPI link speed that exceeds core clock speeds (rather than being behind core speed) have helped to tighten memory latency, which helps memory bandwidth to the bandwidth hungry clarkdale.

Still almost 4.7 Ghz is pretty good for a CPU that runs $125 at Newegg and $99 at Microcenter.

Is there something about having the lower even multiplier of the 530 that forces you to add stress on some other part of your system?

in anands article, he said that like on lynnfield, the odd multi can get you higher than the even one.

my 530 doesnt like anything north of 225 with 21x multi, and doesnt like it with 215 on the 22x.

above 215 on the 22x i lose usb devices from time to time, i think that if i had the 23x i could get 4.8 and approach 5.0 on air if i get lucky enough.

i think anand said that the even multipliers at high frequencies have interference troubles as far as clock generation goes. from what ive read elsewhere, they say that even multiplier would require higher vcore at the same frequency obtained using an odd multiplier. from my own experience, i think the former is more accurate as i usually get a fat no POST when trying to shoot for known good speeds and voltages when switching from 21 to 22 multiplier at lower BCLK speed.

i dont know why it would be more stressful to move to the higher multiplier; the QPI link speed is higher on the 21x multiplier on my board than the 22x would be.

Well the friend I am building the rig for got a i5 650 with a gigabyte mobo ga h55m ud2h. I know on the lynnfield cpu's they require more CPU voltage due to pcie controller being on the chip. Does the clarksdale have any specific things I should look for? He is also getting some corsair xms3 ram ddr3 1600. What's the multi on this chip? Is overclocking the i5 the same as a i7? Just raise bclk, add voltage to CPU as needed, keep memory speeds under control? Any overclocking tips are appreciated.
