Overclocking help.

I used to run my e6400 @3.2 on my 680i mobo with no issues. I only had to bump up fsb to 400 and never touched any voltages. Now, with my DS4, I just get a reboot.

I'm not familar with gigabytes bios nor any kind of voltage adjustments. What else can I try to get a stable 3.2?

Nothing, you'll have to mess around in the bios, raise vcore a slight touch, check the ram speeds/timings, maybe bump up NB voltage. IIRC there is a key combo you have to use to get into the overclocking part of the bios. Not familiar with gigabyte either, more a fan of Asus If you don't know anything about raising the voltages and what not, look up any decent overclocking guide on core 2 duo's.

I had this problem with my Gigabyte P35-DS3R. It was the memory timings being set by the motherboard. Once I set the memory ratio to something within my 800mhz memory's capability, it rebooted just fine. What I did, was set the FSB frequency first, then look at the memory speed that the ratio comes up with. Then adjust until your memory timing is close to stock. You can OC the memory later. I also made sure to lock the PCIe frequency at 100 and keep the voltage at auto. I think you will have good luck after you do that. The problem with the Gigabyte boards is that there is no set frequency for memory, it is a ratio of the FSB.

As bill said, its likely just the memory divider is off.
