Hey all-

Just finished adding a big fan and heatsink to my my GeForce 2 GTS 32MB and started overclocking away. I have it running stable at 240 core and 370 ram, although my problem is that now my 3DMark2000 scores have dropped from 57xx to 1xxx-2xxx.... also, games hickup every once in a while now. I backed off the oc'ing to default (200/333) and the score went back up to 51xx... maybe it overheated?

Thanks for any help!

Tim.

and what kind of geforce?
elsa? and etc?

and how did u attached ur hs and ur fan man?

see now i have o/c to the max
=)
with copper hs and big A$$ fan on top of it..personally i tried thermal tape and that did stick..cuz
copper and fan too heavy
muhahaha
=D
so i just used thermal grease to glue it on
=)
and left it there two days to dry!
no joke
=D
now my core is 300 total memory 400
no joke!
=D
doesnt that sound like geforce ultra?
muhahaa

Nighthawk, what you describe is very common. You simply pushed it a bit too far. That is what typically happens, your scores go down. When I push my CPU up to 1050, I get a VERY weird variety of scores in benchmarks. Sometimes they're significantly better than @ 1012, other times, it's worse than @ 700 (my CPU's default speed)

Also, don't bother overclocking the core, just do the memory. Go until you see little white speckles, then back off about 10 or so MHz, and you'll get the best performance that way.

Don't overclock the CORE... Just overclock the memory.

If you want more information read the reviews of overclocking GTS on this board.

the odd thing that happened to me when overclocking my gladiac using nvidia's integrated overclocker(under win98se), is that while it sets the speeds dynamically without needing a reboot, it infact needs a FULL reboot (you can't do the shift key quick reboot) to work properly. if i ran a Q3 timedemo, exited out to windows, and then overclocked the card, even only 1mhz, my timedemo score would be at least 50% slower if i didn't reboot. i would set the overclocked speed to be automaticly loaded at bootup, and reboot, and the proper effect of the overclock would occur. this did NOT happen if i overclocked using powerstrip.

make sure that this isn't your problem, because i have a strong feeling that this is an issue using nvidia's overclocker.

Ok, thanks all! This helps, I'll concentrate on the RAM instead of the core as first priority. Also, I will remember to restart between overclocks!

Thanks again all!!

bah

get Powerstrip

it rules

several other cool things, not just o/c'ing

AGP, sidebanding, etc. great tool for power users
