Overclocking FSB Really Helps With SETI

I'm sure others of you have found this out, but I think it bears repeating for those of you that haven't tried it yet. I had my Athlon Thunderbird 800 running at 133fsb and 6.5 multiplier (866 mhz). My SETI times were about 9 hours average or so. Then I tried 6.0 multiplier at 145fsb and my SEIT times are now averaging about 7 hours. Even that little difference was enough to push my SETI times way down. I encourage all of you that haven't tried overclocking your AMD chips that way to do so if you want faster SETI times.

Yep, it sure does. My Gateway T-Bird 1200 didn't come with any overclocking options in the BIOS or on the motherboard, but I downloaded SoftFSB and bumped up the FSB and the CPU to something like 1380 MHz. My SETI times went from 6.5-9 hours to 5-7 hours. 😀
