I have a question about the FSB for the AMD T-birds(1000 - 1333Mhz) with 200/266 Mhz FSB.
No one ever talkts about the fact that when a you make an overclock of one of the above cpus , trying to increas the (memory bus Mhz), the FSB for the CPU also increases( You can see this in programs like wincpu.)
Which means that if you have a 266 FSB cpu and you are running at let's say for a 1200mhz t-bird at 9.5 x 133. The cpu FBS should run at 266Mhz. If you then increase the bus to 140 the FSB would be 280 for the cpu. Or if you would prefere if you increased the bus to 150 and lowered the multiplier to 8 = 1200Mhz the FBS for the CPU would be 300Mhz.

The question is this reasonable to try to overclock this way?
The CPU FBS must be very hard to overclock and get stable. I mean take a look at the AGP bus, a lot of mobos have/has problems to get it stable at agp 4x, the electronic noise from other stuff in the computer thrashes the signal and why should it be different here?
Between the Chipset and the memory It should not be a problem at all to increase the Mhz, because if you get a good memory it should run at 150Mhz at no problems at all.

The CPU FBS is another matter, because I have noticed that people have tried to lower the mutiplier and increase the bus speed and they usually never get it to work properly and it seems to me that it must have something to do with this fact.

The mobo I have (ASUS A7V 133a) cannot change the FSB and the Memory bus separately. Which means if I increase the FSB the memory bus will increase also and this is only way you can overclock the memory.

If there would be a way to let the CPU FSB to stay at 266Mhz and only change the memory bus I suppose the
overclock world would be very happy.

My specs are:
Asus a7v 133a
256Mb mosel vitelic 133 cas 2
Amd 1,2 200 at 1300/266 with at alpha heatsink.
Win 2000 pro
asus v7700 geforce 2 deluxe.
Raid 0 2x ibm 75gxp 30gb.
2 cd rom drives one dvd and one burner.
And a soundcard hercules game theatre GXP.

Any one has any comments? Could I be wrong here?

On an A7V133 up to 120fsb you can "up" the memory buss speed by 33mhz after the 120fsb the memory and the fsb mover together... I used to run the fsb at 117mhz with the memory at 156mhz (11X117=1287mhz with the memory at Cas2... not sure why the memory went that much higher than the fsb 117+33=156...? But it did) Bear in mind this was with a 1ghz Tbird @1.75 volts cool and fast... I now run a Duron 700 (el cheapo chip) that is locked but run 7X143fsb = 1Ghz of cheap speed... ;)
