well that's it. two days ago, i bought a geforce 6600gt oc. i installed it and started a game (these past couple of days, ive only been playing star wars galaxies). then, at some point, the computer simply crashed. i restarted it but it wouldnt start. i waited a couple of minutes, restarted and it worked. but after the memory test, there was that error message saying :

"overclocking failed! press F1 to enter configuration or F2 to load default options."

so i went in the BIOS configuration and resetted to defaults. then i made the changes i usually do (boot priority and agp operture size). then i started playing again. but it keeps doing that. sometimes after a couple of minutes, sometimes after an hour or two.

what is it? is it my computer or my card? is it dangerous for the healt of it all and what should i do?

oyoyoy

thanks :)

I would bet the card. If I was you, I would try to RMA it, sounds like a dud to me.

When you get that message, it means your SYSTEM failed the overclock, not your video card.
Put your system to default speeds in your bios by hitting F1 when prompted.
If AUTO OVERCLOCK is enabled in your "JUMPERLESS" config bios page. Turn it off.
That is a major cause of the message you are getting.

Oh, and Change your thread title and ask the mods to move it to CPU/Motherboard forum.

Just for $hits and giggles... :) List your system...? (incl PS...?) Kinda sounds like the extra load of the 6600GT may have it on the verge of low power...?

i really dont know. this morning, the computer wouldnt start or would crash one minute after windows started. i then took out my 6600gt and reinstalled my 5600fx and now it doesnt crash anymore.
the 6600gt is really doing something to my computer, but i dont know what :(
could it be that its not compatible?

Sounds like your power supply is on it's way out. Does your computer suddenly shut off?
Or does it ever shut down right after you turn it on?
