Overclocking experiences of i7 920 c0

Seems everyone the their grandmother has had pretty good success overclocking the d0 steppings, but not to much info on the c0 steppings. Since I'm considering upgrading from an amd x2 4600+ to intel i7 920, just wanted to hear some how other people have been doing in regards to overclocking some of the more recently made 920's.

c0 is not a reciently made stepping.

Its a very old and "failed somewhat" stepping that got quickly replaced to the D0.
It was quite literally intel's fastest stepping revision for retail.

c0's are fairly good clockers, but you need to ram voltage into them.
c0's also run noticeably hotter then d0's so you will need great cooling for them.
Trust me, unless its an offer of a lifetime, you really want a D0 if the word "overclocking" applies to you.

What he said and just for future reference, steppings and revisions usually go up in letters/numbers.

Thanks for the info, I was under the impression that d0's were the earlier ones that overclocked like crazy and that was why they are still so in demand compared to the more recent i7 920s.

The earlier batch of D0's were amazing, some hit 4.2GHz with 1.20-1.21v. The later batches are pretty crappy, they need noticeably more voltage.
