overclocking error with Asus A7VN and AMD XP xpu?

Hi there,

I am familiar with overclocking (been doing it since my Pentium I) and familiar with the risks and factors involved.

Now I tried patiently upping the FSB on this Asus A7VN (or something to that effect) mobo, and a AMD XP 1800MHz cpu.... things went well for a while, and then suddenly the mobo boots up, goes throught it's little POST screen, then asks to boot into Windows safe mode, or safe mode with networking, or the last know good configuration.

Well, it does not matter which I choose from the list, it begins to load, then a blue screen appears for a millisecond, and it goes bback to booting up just as if I powered it on... it goes back to the POST screen again.

It seems to be stuck in this loop. Any ideas as to what is going on? I tried going back to the original default settings, but the same issue arises.

thanks :D

Someone must have some ideas...

I am worried the CPU may have gotten fried... but if it did, wouldn't it not boot up period?

Well if you want to check if you fried your CPU, put it back to stock settings and restart.

As for how to make it work at those speeds, i don't know.

I tried the stock settings, but it just keeps repeating the same screens...

hmmm... will check to see if the memory is not fried

any other ideas?
