Overclocking E6400. PC6400 Vs. PC8500

By looking at my specs. in my sig ,you'll see that my E6400 is overclocked to 3.5GHZ. I know my rig is getting long in the tooth,but I would like to squeeze some more juice out of it for a little longer,as i'm planning my next built. now i'm looking at replacing my 4gb pc6400(800mhz) with 4gb of PC8500(1066mhz) to aid in overclocking my CPU a bit more. My ram is already overclocked to 1050mhz,and has been since late 2007,with no hiccups. Now since RAM prices are in free fall,would switching to pC8500 help me overclock my CPU further?
would it be worth it to do that or not. I value your thoughts,so please share them with me.

P.S. I'm in the process of dumping my dual boot system Vista(32bit) and XP(32bit) in favor of a single boot system. I will install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

I do gaming,and video encoding too.
 
"Free-fall?" Aren't you several months late to the party? Prices on DDR2 ram has quadrupled since last summer. It was like $20 AR; now it's maybe $80 AR for 2x2GB DDR2-800.

Anyways, I doubt you'll be able to push the cpu or mobo any higher just because you have faster ram. At 1050MHz, what you have is basically DDR2-1066 (almost). There's no point in switching and I don't think ram is holding you back.

LOL,I think using the term "free fall" was not quite accurate. What I meant that the prices are cheaper than when I built my rig.
as for pushing the CPU a little further,would you suggest? raising the voltage,maybe?
 
Hell ya man, these 65nm chips can take volts and last. I've been running mine at 1.55v since the cpu was released. If you're running 3.5ghz at 1.45v you might be able to hit 3.7ghz. Try setting the cpu volts to 1.55 and run 8x463. You'll probably need to run 1:1 5-5-5-15 with your memory if you weren't already doing so.
