Overclocking Durons

I haven't really been paying attention to this whole mess lately, so someone clue me in here..

I shall soon upgrade my Celeron set up to a Duron set up. What I need to know is, are the Durons unlockable? I've heard you can unlock it by doing something with the back of the CPU, is that accurate?

If it is possible to overclock, would I have to up my FSB speed, or can I just up the multiplier? I'd highly prefer the latter since I'm only running PC100 memory (I know I know) so it'd really help if I simply up the multiplier speed.

And further assuming the above conditions are met, which Duron should I get in terms of value and overclockability? The 700mhz Duron looks very attracting, and I would like it can go up to at least 850-900mhz. The GHZ number would sound really nice, but I prefer value to performance.

And finally, if I were to overclock my Duron, what coolers and motherboards do you guys recommend? Again I don't need the greatest out there, just something that'll get me through the next few months or year..

generally, what you do is take a pencil and using the pencil graphite connect the L1 bridges on the back of the chip(it's clearly labeled) which allows you to change the multiplier of the cpu. you can up the fsb a bit if you really want to get the most out of your chip, but the chipset generally won't do anythign over 110mhz fsb(220mhz effectivly) i'm sure someone who has more experience doing this will give you more information than i did 🙂
