Overclocking Duron 1.3 GHz + ECS K7S5A

Well, I got a new mobo (K7S5A) to go with my humble duron 1.3 I want to overclock it, but I guess I am a moron. I have read ALL the threads concerning L7 and so on bridges (here at AT, Toms, etc). I still don't understand clearly.

Those threads refer to close and open bridges, but what I can understand we are just changing the default configuration of the CPU . If the CPU is unlocked, I should be able to change FSB, multiplier and voltage in the BIOS.

My question is very simple and specific. How do I unlock this duron 1.3 GHz? What bridges do I need to close/open in order to do a "true" unlock that allows me to use the BIOS?? Please don't refer me to another thread, as I have already read them and I didn't understand.

I know this mobo is not the best for overclocking, but I would like to try.

I just purchased the same processor, to be used with a Asus a7v266-e. I have however, had little luck locating reliable info on OCing. Good Luck!!

the 5A doesn't support multplier overclocking, only FSB.

Well, a regular thunderbird or duron can be unlocked by closing all the L1 bridges. The Duron 1.3GHz is really an XP core, but I think the cpu format is the same as the older socket A. So closing the L1 bridges will give you an unlocked processor, but your motherboard doesn't support multiplier changes. To increase the voltage on the older socket A cpu you just close the L7 bridges to get 1.85v. I would try this on your Duron 1.3GHz and then try moving the fsb up to 112MHz for 1456MHz.

By unlocking your duron it enables you to overclock by multiplier. But unlolcking your duron won't help you because your board does not support adjusting the mulplier. The only way for you to OC is by adjusting the FSB, which is still very limited with the K7S5A since it doesn't support +1mhz increments.
