Okay this is what I am afraid of:

Lets say I goto bed tonight, and I leave Prime95 running while it does its torture test. Then While i am asleep my computer has a critical error and Im not around to A) reset it B) Turn it off. Can a problem like this happen?

By the way I just OCed it to 2.4 and I DONT know yet if its 100% stable.

You should run it for 24+ hours anyway. My suggestion is to A) make sure you have the lastest BIOS (to correct temperature readings) and B) set it to shut off at, say, 65C in the BIOS. So long as you do that (assuming that the board actually does what you tell it to do), you shouldn't need to worry about permanently damaging your CPU.

As soon as Prime95 detects an error it terminates the active test. Your system will then return to idle temps. shortly. I don't see where a problem like you are worried about can occur.

Yep, but it's still a good idea to set a shutdown temperature in the BIOS if you've got that feature.

if you run it for .5-1 hour before you go to bed/leave than it should reach the maximum temp, it wont do damage if that temp is ok
