overclocking cpu with watercooling

you can get a good watercooling for let say 300 then over clock the lights out of the cpu.Most people say watercooling is a waste of money cause you can take the extra 300 and get better cpu but I personally think beside what watercooling does ,another main factor is it looks cool under a light with power supply sleeved,and future value of another cpu you get.

Some points...

Water cooling is a good investment. Mainly you can keep it years like a good PSU and tranfer it to new comps. With ever changing sockets Air coolers make this difficult. Most waterblock cos make adaptors for water blocks when a new socket comes and of course you keep case, radiator and pump. I just drill new holes in my water blocks so they match existing mobo.

Water cooling, if done right, can be totally silent with a super high performing system... which is impossbile with air cooling.

Water cooling of course as you note one can build serious clockers, no longer totally silent this way, but still quieter and cooler than any air setup.

Water cooling is the future I think with ever louder and hotter parts. Even G5 Macs come stock from factory with it.

I'm glad I went to water cooling. My 3.4 prescott was throttling at stock speed with an XP-120, now I can run at 3.99ghz and stay much cooler than I was on air, it's much more quiet, I can actualy hear my raptors now..like Zebo said, if I upgrade to a new socket type, I can just get an adaptor and keep the same case, and cooling. I have the thermaltake bigwater 12cm, it's got green UV reactive tubing, and it was really easy to set up being my first attempt at water cooling.
