Overclocking CPU Gives 6800GT Artifacts???

Hey

Ok, I have done a volt mod and bios flash on my 6800GT --> Ultra, which runs fine, no problems, no artifacts.

Now i want to overclock my system. I went from 2.2Ghz to 2.5Ghz (3500 AMD). Everything is running fine and stable in windows and prime95.

Now once i run 3dmark with my CPU AND GFX overclocked, i start getting major artifacts and pauses.

1. I have tried setting AGP to 66 and 67 (67 is apparently a lock?) in bios.
2. I always have faswrites turned off
3. Tried Different Drivers.
4. AntiVirus Off

What I dont understand is, these two overclocks by themselves run great and are stable, but once i try run them together, i get artifacts in any games or 3d applications such as 3dMark. I should be able to run them together? Any Suggestions?

Thanks

System Specs:
3500 AMD 64
1 Gig Corsair Ram XMS 3200
Gainward 6800GT @ Ultra
480 Watt Antec SmartPower

Well compare the temps of them alone and then when you combine them...if there is a gigantic difference, theres your problem. You just need better cooling if that is the case OR turn down the overclock on either, most likely the CPU.

The temps are fine.

Im running a Hyper 6 cooler with 2 x 8cm Fans

And the Zalman Fatality Cooler on my VGA.

The artifacts start AS I START 3dmark 05's first test - even before temps go up.

My CPU runs at 48 on Full Load
VGA on 69 on Full Load

Hi CAndrade and Welcome to the Forums!

EDIT: Nevermind the below. I just re-read your post and see it works fine with just the CPU OC'd.
I'm thinking that your mobo doesn't have a working AGP lock. Might consider setting the 6800GT back to stock and see if the CPU OC is alone sufficient to cause the artifacts/problems in 3D Mark.

Mmm, Ive been reading, and it appears as if SOME K8N Neo2's have working AGP locks, and others dont. How would i be sure, that if i set AGP to 66/67 that it is locked? Im using ClockGen to set the clock speeds, and it always says 67 - Is this accurate? Does this mean its locked?

Thanks Alot

Sounds like it is. Maybe run Everest Home Edition to cross check?
