Overclocking/Cooling A Pentium D 805

I've decided to get a Pentium D 805. I intend to overclock it to boost performance but i'm definately going to buy an aftermarket HSF with it.

I'm currently thinking of going with:
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

The other option i've heard of is:
ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink

My reason for going with AC F7 Pro is that in terms of cooling, it works ALMOST on par with the Zalman but at less than half the price.

Correct me where i'm wrong please.
Also suggest alternate options below $40 (If its gonna cost more than that, i might as well buy the Zalman).

BTW: How far can i overclock the 805 with these HSF's at stock voltage.

Didn't really see that one. I'm readin the reviews and they seem to be pretty good.
Price is nice also.
So why is the ZALMAN so expensive? Is it THAT MUCH better?

i was thinking of an intermediate (upgrade) board with "decent" OC ability.
Upgrade board meaning...DDR and DDR2, AGP and PCI-X

any suggestions?
which of the "budget" (<$100) boards OC best?

There's only one board that offers all that, and it has VERY limited oc'ing options, if they can even be called oc'ing options.

EDIT: And refer to it as PCIe, or PCI-E, PCI-X is something entirely different

Thats what I am using with my 805. I have it running at 3.6ghz, 55c load. The asrock board has no CPU voltage options at all, so you aren't gonna get far. Be sure you have a solid power supply as well, as it will be a huge power hog the higher you OC.

I've got an 805 oc'd to 3.8Ghz with an Asus P5ND2-SLI. It was only 88 bucks but it's PCIe and DDR2 only.

I can't speak for that specific motherboard but I've used two asrock boards and both performed fine and managed a 12% and 16% overclock but with a CPU that could do 32% above stock. The northbridge got extremely hot on the 16% OC and the board actually hit 22% when I put a super-cooler on the northbridge. Pretty good for a $40 board.

That said, I doubt you will get the kind of overclock that this CPU is capable of using an ASROCK: CPU magazine managed to get an 805 running at 4.05ghz on basic water cooling. Check the June 06 issue for details.
