It's so time for a new build but I don't want to spend a lot of money.
I already have a 660 TI and a good 850W PSU, so I am looking to upgrade my ancient Q6600 to an i5/i7 + board + 8GB ram.
I am mainly gaming and some working on my PC, for example I use Dragon Naturally Speaking where it's said that new i5/i7 would be of great benefit. On occasion I also encode videos, but rarely.
It is my understanding that I really don't require Haswell (???) and I also heard they don't OC well.
So I came to the conclusion that an i5 i3570K and probably an Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 and 2x4GB Ripjaws would be a good combo? Would an i7 have any benefits?
I still feel "odd" spending approx. €450 on this stuff but getting "last gen" hardware. What would you recommend?
Cooling will be on-air...I just did very quick research and found that the CM Hyper Evo 212 would be a good cooler. (All my past coolers were Thermaltake tho)
