Any try overclocking a Celeron 2.2Ghz to 2.9Ghz? That would be increasing the mulitplier from 100 to 133. Seems like people have good luck going from 2.0 to 2.6, and some going from 2.0 to 3.0 with a 150 multiplier. Wonder how much of a given it would be to take the 2.2Ghz to 133 multiplier.

Looking for something to do a lot of integer number crunching, seems like an overclocked Celeron would do the trick cheaply. Although an XP2100+ would be the same price...

I'd get the XP2100 for sure...

but if a 2.0 hits 3.0 then the 2.2 can probably hit the 2.9 mark.

does look alot better. but i'd still take the 2100+ (esp if it was a TBred)

if it was a TBred, and you O/C'ed it, it would smoke the Celeron for sure. :D

Should be no problem.. My 2.0 runs at 2.6 but could easily run at 2.9 the last time I tried, though the integrated nic on the motherboard craps out at that high of fsb so I had to clock it down.
