Does pushing OC on GPU memory or the core give better results?

ive pushed my core on my 7900gt co sc to its max right now, about 580mhzbefore artifacting. But the memory keeps being able to be pushed up and up with no artifacting. Im scared to go beyond 850mhz (1700mhz) Temps are 36c idle 42c load (3dmark06 and such)

should i push the memory more?

3dmark 06 ive got 5509 as highest score so far.

It depends on the level of overclock. At some point your bandwidth (memory) will be fine but the shader/vertex/geometry processing may need to be increased (core). Sometimes the situation is reversed depending on the clocks for each. Notice how the X1950XTX only added more bandwidth? Increasing the core for the X1950XTX would be the first step to take, but when I had my X1900GT, I saw huge increases by overclocking the memory more so than the core. I'm going to be working on my X1900XT to see what I can crunch from it, but for this I'll definately find my memory threshold BEFORE my core.
