overclocking C600 beyond 900

i have the C600 overclocked to 900 currently, using abit bh6 and abit slotket III. i want to try pushing it beyond 900 if all the success stories i have seen from this forum.

however, when i try 105 * 9, my BIOS still displays the speed of 900 during POST. i went into BIOS to check and sure enough, the 105 setting is still there, so i did not forget to save the setting. i tried this a few times but my BIOS just shows 900 and not the 945 i expected.

i decided to ignore that and go on with the booting, but my computer hanged at the windows 98 splash screen.

i have my cpu voltage at 1.7v now, and i am using the cpu fan that came in the retail box.

what could have caused my first problem? i would think that i can get by the second problem by upping the voltage to 1.75 or 1.8v, although i have seen other threads mention that they could get beyond 900 without such a high voltage. am i correct?

thanks!

i have a bh6 and run a 533A @ 896 and have never experienced the problem you speak of. Have you ever used SoftFSB by H.Oda? Try to use it to adjust the bus speed from within windows to help diagnose the problem.

Also on your slocket did you set its FSB speed to 100 as well? If so try to set it to auto or CPU define, as it maybe overriding the bios.

** Wait just a minute. You tried a FSB of 105????? What revision BH6 do you have??? Mine only supports bus speeds of 66, 75 83, 100, 103, 112, 124, 133.*******

i set the jumpers for fsb and voltage on the slotket to auto.

i am using bh6 rev 1.1, with the latest bios. (6/22/00, SP)
