Overclocking beyond air?

Ok ok.. Maybe I didn't phrase it correctly 🙂 🙂 🙂

I got so sick of my P4 2.53 running @ 53C idle and over 60C loaded that I decided
to use something other than air cooling 🙂 I tried different Intel HSF, tried AS3 with
no luck.

Anybody knows good cooling equipment around $100 that is not dangerous
for the system and does a good job?

Thanks a lot, guys.

alpha heatsinks have always treated me nice, but for under $100 watercooling could get you temps down but possibly lead to leaks which would leave you without a system.

If I were in your shoes I'd just save my money for when It's time to upgrade. You probably won't even notice the difference in a few Mhz you would get with a watercooling setup.

hope this helps.

Your 2.53 is clocked at?? Unless it is overclocked to a vey high speed, there is no way it should be running 53C idle.

Sorry. Forgot to mention 🙂 🙂 🙂
It is running at stock 🙁 🙁 🙁 That what kills me.. Could be the sensor on my GA-8IHXP...

I think, I am gonna go with GB or SIS655 for dual-ddr, since SIS can run PC3200 in dual mode...

Something is wrong then. Either the sensor is giving you wrong info, or the HS is not on right. What app are you using to read the temp? MBM5?

I check the temp in BIOS itself to alliminate the possibility of the app error.

53C/60C is normal with little or no case cooling, and is perfectly acceptable since even with under-read errors it's way below the tolerance. If you want to o'c, cool your case a lot; if you want your PC to stay quietish (i.e. not like Concorde taking off) don't and stay at stock speed/temp.

53/60 is hot. What are your case temps? I typically run ~ 10C above my case temp @ idle. Right now, I have a 25C case temp, 35C CPU temp. Summer time I run ~ 30C case, 40C CPU. Do you have a 43C case temp? The swing between idle and load doesn't sound right either. I'll go up to 55C load which is +20C. You are only changing by +7.

My system is a 1.6A @ 2.4 1.675 Vcore, stock HS/F with ASII.

I have my case open, since I play with drives a lot. As far as temp difference that could be due to not putting full load on the processor. As a matter of fact, I am gonna download Prime95 right now and see what it does to my tempreture.
