Overclocking Bad For Compiling?

I've read in assorted places that compilers don't work well under an overclocked CPU. Is this true?

Thanks.

When compiling, it matters that your computer is stable.

A computer can be quite unstable and still run Quake 3, Unreal, etc. for hours on end.

Overclocking your computer does not necessarily make your computer unstable - however, it is very difficult to ensure that your computer is stable.

Remeber the Pentium III 1.13 GHz? It only demonstrably malfunctioned on Linux kernel compiles - the problem is that most other programs don't tax the system to the extent that compiling large programs does.

I've read that the number one not-so-obvious problem with overclocking is math error. Games and word processing may run just fine, but operations involving computations may contain OC induced errors. I don't know if compiling would be effected, but I imagine there would be some math involved (memory offsets, pointer math, etc.) depending on what you are compiling. It may be better to err on the side of caution and not compile on an OC'd box.
