How exactly do you overclock one of these? Is it done by upping the FSB, or is it done by unlocking the multiplier? Back in the day when I had my 1ghz Thunderbird, there was the mod to unlock the multipliers. Did AMD take this away or can you still do it?

Depends on which chip and which motherboard you have, but from what I've seen all of my XP's have been unlocked.

Interesting. So did AMD just figure people were going to overclock anyways and take away the multiplier lock?

I bet they were losing more money in people RMA'ing their processors that were broken during a bad mod....even though they don't really allow RMA'ing of modded products, there are always people who could reverse it and make it look close enough to normal to get a new one, only to break that too... People make me mad when they try to rip off companies like this, like the good ol' saying,"if you break it, you bought it". All that happens is a rise in price for the rest of the poor people out there.
