Overclocking Athlon XP Results ?

Wonder why Anand didn't report on that.
Can anyone help me with a link ?
I remember reading that the XP1600 was not locked although overclockers.com thought it might not be an XP after all...

I can only get my 1.53 to 1.75 w/ water + 156 peliter running at 24 degrees full load and it's locked.

which means judging by your rig that the abit ka7's soft menu doesn't require any physical tampering to oc multiplier and FSB ?

You shouldn't have to mess with the multiplier to increase the FSB. I didn't touch the bridges on my chip, just went through the BIOS and set the FSB to where I wanted. Couldn't have been easier.

right, but up to now AMD chips were liked, unlike Intel's, for your ability to change the multiplier.
It seems that the doft-menu boards still allow you to change the multiplier on the XP's, can ne1 confirm ?

Do you know that for a fact ? I've read reports of people havnig success with Abit's boards because they didn't rely on the "jumper" approach to setting the multiplier/FSB.

Where did you hear that? I have not heard anything about anyone being able to overclock an xp without digging out the bridges and that is still gray.

People are unlocking XP's with defogger kits. Perhaps you should invest $4 in a defogger kit and crank down the FSB? At 144fsb and 12.5X multiplier you will have a potential of realizing the 1.8GHz machine.

what i meant by the statement of "only if your cpu is unlocked" is if your cpu is unlocked by any of the possible means of unlocking it. That either having been done coming unlocked from AMD or doing it yourself with a kit or some other method to unlock the mutliplier.

now BeBumbleBe, if you are implying that motherboards like the Abit's can still overrider a multiplier locked cpu, then that would be new news to me.....
