Overclocking Anybody?

Hello Hello

New guy here. New to this overclocking gig anyway. I currently have AMD Thunderbird 1700+ XP. I'm running an Asus A7V133-C motherboard. I have always heard of overclocking, but really never understood the benefits it produces (when done properly) until just recently. I'm interested in overclocking, can anyone assist me in getting the ultimate performance out of this set-up?

Thanks

Matix

Take that 1700+ T-bird over to ebay and sell it for a ton-o-cash, it's a rare bird indeed! Then use those funds to buy a good XP2400.

But seriously... people will want to know other components you have, what you mainly use your rig for and how much you have to spend.

Basically, overclocking gets you more performance for a smaller amount of cash. That's assuming that your system is in balance and can rock at the higher MHz.
An example would be buying an XP 2000+ ($70) and overclocking it to an XP 2400+ ($150 level, saves you about $80.

But overclocking is not merely a cost savings tool (actually costs more in some cases)... It's a sickness that infects about 75% of the people that come in contact with it! 😉

My advice is that unless you have deep pockets to feed the habit... stay away from overclocking!

what he's trying to say is that its not a thunderbird, but a thoroughbred. anyway, this would take too long to explain to a complete newbie, try searching google

...Constructive criticism? I see the benefits of paying particular attention to detail.

Thanks for the pointers gentlemen.

** It is strongly advised you DO NOT overclock any component of your computer. Continue at your own risk. ** [/q}
