How much of a difference does voltage have on Core 2 temps? I downloaded CoreTemp and to my astonishment the temperature of the CPU rocketed to 80 degrees C. This is while running two instances of Prime95 torture tests. The CPU was at 3.5GHz with 1.45V on a GigaByte DS3 with a Zalman CNPS9500. I lowered the multiplier to 7 and increased the bus speed to 450MHz to test out memory performance. At the same time I lowered the CPU voltage to 1.25V. The CPU is running at 3.15GHz. The load temp in CoreTemp goes to 58 degrees maximum with two instances of Prime95. I can live with those temps. I think I may keep it at 3.15GHz. The memory runs easily at 450MHz (900 DDR) with 4-4-4-12 timings even with 1.8V.
