Overclocking and the A7N8X

I'm overclocking a 1700+ on my A7N8X. It's one of the 1.5v 1700s, and the BIOS allows me to up the voltage up to 1.75. My other processor (2600+) with the default voltage of 1.6 would allow me to up the voltage to 1.85. Is there any way to allow me to get higher voltages for the 1700+?

I also have a quick question regarding overclocking in general. Which is more important for stability - temp or voltage? If I can't get the higher voltages available, would a better heatsink and fan allow me more stability? I can hit 2.2 easy (200x11) with the voltage at 1.65 - I can get stable at 2.3 with the voltage at 1.75 (when I have a huge fan sitting right next to the heatsink) and I can POST at 2.4, but not get into Windows.

High voltage is more harmful to a processor than what most people here consider high temps (60 C) But you should be just fine at 1.750 volts.

Yea, the voltage is what's going to allow it to run faster and more stable, the heat issue is just to prolong it's life... Most like case is, if you're running your CPU at it's upper most limits, then that's the best chance you're going to burn it out.

Best thing to do is bump it down a notch or two from it's limits...

My 2100+ will run at 2.48GHz (and it get's hot), but I run it at 2.34 just for safety. an extra 140MHz isn't going to do a lot for me...

2.2GHz (200x11) is a very good speed! You shouldn't have any reason to need to run it any higher than that.

Unstable crashing CPU's = corruption of data... Nobody wants that. :|
