Overclocking and Stability for CAD work?

I'm working mostly on CAD, that required extensive processing and graphic power. Would overclocking (if done optimally) have any downside on this?

Thinking about putting new systems together, and considering PIII 866 on Asus CUSL2-C, How fast would it go?
 
I'm not sure what an "optimal" overclock is, but I know what a conservative overclock is. With an 866 you're already running at 133 MHz system bus and that is a pretty fast level from which to start overclocking. Most overclockers, like me, use a P3 designed for the 100 MHz bus, like Supradude. Maybe you should just get a 933 or 1000 and run it not o'clocked to be safe.
 
um, overclocking and CAD work tend to be a bad combination, especially if you wanna render anything.

i am not kidding.

for mission critical work, don't PUSH IT too much ;-)
 
Bah Humbug. I run a T-Bird 750@900 Mhz when rendering! It will do 950 Mhz when running SETI and such. But yes, I do overclock, and toned it down a bit, because it is mission critical stuff. I see no reason to cower in the corner. A successful overclock is one that you can do anything with! And this thing kicks butt at 900 Mhz!
