Overclocking and Further overclocking later?

I'm currently looking at getting an e5200 and overclocking it to around 3.00 gighertz with stock cooling and then later about 4-6 months later getting arctic cooler 7 and going for 3.5+ is this alright to overclock higher after so much time has passed?

Currently I will be only moving over a 8800gs video card so 3 gighertz should max this card out anyways until I can afford to get a 4870.
