Overclocking and cool'n quiet...

I'd be happy if I could combine overclocking with Cool'n Quiet. I got an impression that this could be a problem. I am looking at buying An ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe for a quiet but still very gooc overclockerboard - would that help me in regarding my subject, or should I look for other nf4-brands?
 
Disable cool and quiet if you want to overclock. With cool and quiet enabled, the cpu speed stays around 1000 nearly all the time, defeating the purpose of overclocking. I use a zalman fan mate series rpm adjuster to lower the heatsink fan rpms. You can run quiet at about 2500 rpms with this $6 accessory and still keep the temps in proper range.
 
I've used RMCLOCK to adjust my CPU speed as desired. My CPU is an A64 2800+ default 1.8GHz overclocked to 2.4GHz. If I know I'm going to not need the faster speed for a while (for instance spending hours here at the forums 😛 ) then I'll just drop the multiplier and even drop voltage. System clock speed and RAM speed stays the same.

It doesnt defeat the purpose of overclocking. The point of cool and quiet is that your processor runs fast when you need it and throttles back when you dont. Itll run at 1000 at idle and whatover overclock when you are at load. There are limits though, some of which are bypassed by RMclock. There is a severe voltage limitation when using rmclock(.5 - 1.0v above stock), My a8n-sli doesnt allow any voltage adjustments when using the motherboard bios' coolnquiet.

I run my 3200+ at 2.4 ghz at stock 1.4v, which steps down to 1.2ghz at 1.1v. Using rmclock I can do 2.5ghz at 1.45v and 1.25ghz at 1.0v idle.

I love overclocking with C n' Q and RM clock I run my SD3700+ at 1.5ghz idle and 2.8ghz load. 1.5ghz is snappy for websurfing and general usage and when I fire up a game or something intense it kicks some butt.

Hmmm...using the A8N-SLI too and everything works fine with CnQ on and RMClock + QFan.
I only switch between two states with Rmclock: 1GHz & 1v / 2.5GHz & 1.6v. Runs perfectly well 😀
However the voltages shown by Rmclock are not the voltages really supplied to the processor (real voltage is always 0.1 higher). So 1.45v Rmclock is 1.55v Asus-BIOS setting for me, resulting in "real real" 1.58-1.6v at the CPU (probe value).
 
c and c works fine as long as you use the default cpu multi,my pc is on 24/7 and most of the time runs at 1.3gig at 1.2 vcore which is all good
