I assume overclocking will most probably require a better cpu-fan as well so recommendations would be appreciated.
Anyways, this is what I ordered:
Intel C2D E6400
Asus P5B Deluxe
2GB Corsair XMS2-6400 5-5-5-12
If your case has good airflow, and your ambient room temp is not high, the stock cooler will be sufficient for running at stock, and mild overclocking. If you're planning to significantly overclock - >25% - you should definitely get an aftermarket cooler. There are so many good options, including (in no particular order):
- Zalman CNPS9500 (I am currently using this)
- Scythe Ninja
- Scythe Mine
- Scythe Infinity
- Tuniq Tower (almost impossible to find this, atm)
- Coolermaster Hyper48 (My previous cooler)
- Coolermaster Hyper6+
- Thermaltake Big Typhoon
- Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
- Thermalright Ultra-120
- Noctua NH-U9
- Noctua NH-U12 (I just ordered one of these - looks like one of the best coolers out there, atm)
All of these, and many more, are superior to the stock cooler. Note: some of the above coolers do not come with fans, so you'll need to get one separately.
