Ok I built my new conroe rig, With both my DS3, and P5B i had cracking and popping from my sound card. Its a known issue.

No matter what I did with clock speeds, pci frequencies etc, it still happened.

I'm annoyed! Is there an add-on sound card I can use that WILL NOT make these noises?

I thought I'd be fine to use the onboard sound, but it does not have an option to chose "what you hear" as the recording device. This is mildly annoying because I use this feature sometimes.

Any suggestions?

When installing your OS, you need to make sure your SB card doesn't share IRQs with other devices in your system, especially drive controllers, as this caused issues.
