Evening all.
I recently purchased the aforementioned cpu, mobo combo along with 2 gig of ddr800 corsair ram.
I'm reasonably knowledgable when it comes to OCing but when it comes to OCing intels, temps and pros and cons of fsb speeds I'm a bit limited.
So, I pushed the fsb to 400 because I could keep the ram at the right timings there, locked the bus speed of the pci-e and pci, set vram to spec at 2.1V, disabled spread spectrum etc etc and upped vcore to 1.45. This gave me 3.6 GHz which ran stable (so far, not pushed for a long time yet). I have a Zalman 9700 which I am certain is properly installed although I'm not sure if I used too much paste or not. It is running constantly in silent mode. At this setting the idle temp for the cpu is 47 degrees and it approaches 60 under dual sp2004 according to speedfan. The mobo was running at about 44. Are those temps too high? Could they be doing long term damage?
Also, I was doing some typing when the zalman kicked in, I looked at speedfan and it was saying temps were at 85 but this was fluctuating massively (i.e. down to -1) and there was no load registered. Is there an explanation for that, could it be to do with the overclock?
Thanks for you advice.
cheers
