Overclocking an E3110

Since all DDR2-1066 is just overclocked DDR2-800, I don't see how it can be my ram. I thought the P5Q Pro was supposed to be a pretty good overclocking motherboard that could hit some high FSB numbers. The E3110 is basically an E8400 that's supposed to do 4.0 GHz in it's sleep. Could I have all 3 components bad or what?

Don't fall into the trap with an expected minimum oc. Many people fell for that with tha Q6600 G0 at 3.6 and MANY never got there.

Have you had that board over 450-475fsb yet? Drop your multi to 6x and see how high you can push the fsb, then slowly increase the multiplier.

So far, in order to boot into windows & type this reply, I had to drop the FSB down to 455.
Pretty pitiful, eh?
Motherboard? Ram? Both?

You may need to add some NB voltage and likely ram voltage. Set everything on your CPU to auto and use the ram divider to push your ram speed up. You should be able to get your ram speed to 1066+ using the divider and the 333fsb on the CPU. Then run memtest to be sure your ram is ok at higher speeds. You may need more voltage to keep the ram stable. You just need to isolate the component that is causing your grief and adjust accordingly.

Off the top of my head, when I had my E3110 over 500fsb, I needed ~2.1v on the memory with 5-5-5-15 timings to keep it stable, ~1.33v core and just a shade more VTT/FSB and NB volts. Everything else was auto.

I've tried 2.0-2.1v w/those looser settings. I've bumped the NB up to 1.4v, but that didn't help either.

you may be at the ceiling of your chip. You can loosen the timings even more if you think it will help, try 6-6-6-18.

Well, I've made all the recommendations I can. Until you isolate the component holding you back, it's anyones guess.

thats why you never buy a chip on overclocking.
