Overclocking an Asus P5K SE/EPU and an E7200

I am a NOOB when it comes to over clocking, but interested in learning more. I was curious if it was normal for your motherboard to automatically adjust the multiplier on your processor when not under load. The multiplier for the E7200 is 9.5, but when my processor is not under load, the motherboard drops the multiplier to 6.0. I've looked everywhere in the manual for an automatic setting that would disable this feature, and can't find it. Is this normal for motherboards to do this, or do I need to search deeper through my manual to find the culprit??

My system specs are:
Asus P5K SE/EPU
E7200
4 gigs ddr2-800 transcend memory
9500 gt ddr2

Any advise or suggestions would be more than appreciated.

Real quick, I have the FSB kicked up to 333, so my current over clock is 3.16ghz Not under load, my motherboard drops the multiplier to 6.0 or 2ghz.

Yeah they scale back when not needed. It needs to be turned off in the BIOS. I don't have any experience with your board, but I believe it's called EIST or something like that. I am sure someone will come along with more experience.
