Overclocking an AMD Athlon 850 MHz

I have an AMD Athlon 850 MHz sitting at home not doing much - I don't normally endorse or encourage overclocking, but since I have this CPU here, I thought I might give it a try.

I've tried overclocking it by altering the multiplier settings in the BIOS, but the CPU refuses to follow the new settings.

Any one willing to share similar experiences?

Your Athlon/Tbird is probably locked. Locked in a sense of, it's made so you can't overclock.

Of course the good part is that you can unlock the CPU. All it takes is a simple procedure.
