Overclocking an Amd Athlon 64 4000+

I recently acquired a 4000 athlon and was curious how these overclock. I am stuck with pc3200 ram currently so what should i expect to hit with it?

Is the mutliplier locked at 12?

That Corsair RAM you have shouldn't have any problems at all running at 240 Mhz. I've seen it ran at 245 & 250. With the stock 12x multiplier, that would be 2.80-3.0 Ghz. Of course, you're the only one that can find out whether your processor will be able to do that.

edit: Your motherboard is surely going to hold your overclock back. Whatever you end up with, just know that it's the motherboard holding you back. More vcore isn't going to help anything.

I actually have an abit kn8 sli. I will try memtest and see what i can get at its tightest timings

At 2225 the higest i could get memtest stable was 210!!!!!!!!!! Could that be true?

In my bios, I set ram to spd and htt to 210. Am I doing something wrong?

When I said that I've seen people running that RAM at up to ~250 Mhz, I didn't mean people who had never attempted an overclock. Getting a good overclock, especially with RAM, almost always involves quite a bit of experience, and alot of research.

I've overclocked numerous other pc's with no problem. My ram can only get to 210 on 2225 timings (memtest stable) @ 2.8 volts with no errors

Run a divider, raise voltage, loosen timings.
