Below are the specs for my machine. I know that Dell has no ability to overclock using the bios but that clockgen can be used for it, even though I have never used it myself.

Whenever I have Cool N' Quiet enabled, the multiplier drops to 5x from 12x (I am using CPU-Z to see the stats). Is there any way to up the multiplier? would there be any gain to it? Would it cause any problems with my Dell?

Heh, unless you got a black edition, which I don't think exists for th x2 4600+, then there is no way to up the multiplier, you can only lower it.

Preachin' to the choir, bro :D

It's a pretty cool utility that may help. Sometimes it works - sometimes not. Google your CPU and Crystal to find out if anyone has succeeded - or give it a try. Click File, Multi management settings and give it a tweak - to enable the tweak hit F3. Hit F4 for the clock. It either won't take the setting or will hang.

Where it's really handy is a more highly adjustable C&Q or PowerNow. You can clock the multi down in multiple increments - same with the voltages. Select the various combinations which work best for you. It generally won't let you work too far outside the paramters of C&Q but allows greater refinement. I've tried to reduce Opty's way outside the multi/volatage ranges on the low end of PowerNow and it mostly hangs. You'd think it would run 0.8 volts :)

Where it's handy is with an OC from the BIOS (if you disable C&Q or PowerNow in the BIOS). From within the OS you can fine tune the multi/voltages to dial back the OC depending upon system load
