I have a saphire 9800 pro 128 mb vid card and I am going to be recieving my vga silencer and ram sinks today....once they are on what would be the best program to use to help identify the top speeds for the card ? I have in the past messed with ATI tool...and was wondering what else was out there

also if you could post your speeds of your card I would apprecaite it as a benchmark...

EDIT
also when using the ATI tool and selecting the buttons find max mem and max core...how long do you let it run ? will it automatically adjust it for you and then stop or do you do it manually...

Well I was hoping for some info too but I see you have gotten no replies yet...

I just recently got my 9800pro and have used Rage3d tweak and Ati Tool to o/c it. I never tried the find max on ATI tool, I don't really wanna completely max it out and risk instability or ruining it so I just used the utilities to bump up the speeds just a notch. I dont know of and haven't used anything else. I don't really like Rage3d tweak that much though, and I'd rather have a good tweaker and overclocker in one program (I used to use RadeonTweaker w/ my orig. radeon, that was a good program) but that's a small gripe. So any other good utilities?

edit: Since you have used the find max speeds, exactly what speeds did you end with using as your highest overclock? My default is 380/340, I think I just bumped them each about 10-15mhz and no problems, so I'll go a little higher probably.

ATI tool is junk, search google for "Omega Drivers" They are moded catalist drivers that have a built in overclocking utility. Make sure to do a complete uninstall of your old drivers.

i use the Radlinker to overlock my card.

I just put together my son's new PC and included the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro card.

I also have the Artic Silencer (or whatever its name is) Cooler version two, but after I opened it and looked at the directions, I decided to hold off until I could find some directions that made sense and were more detailed.

Is there a site that has a more detailed description of just how to install this cooler on his brand new 9800 Pro?

Thank you!

Radclocker is the easiest overclocking tool. It comes with the Omega Drivers or you can just download it seperate and it will run with the regular Cats.

I have revision 3 with my Radeon 9800 Pro. I don't mean to scare you but you need to be careful with this installation. People have killed their GPUs with this thing, so make sure you do not tighten it too much. Another thing to look out for is the shim on the video card, which is like a square ring around the GPU. I believe it is to prevent the GPU from being crushed. On some cards it is actually higher than the GPU itself, and in this case some people have decided to physically remove the shim. If the heatsink isn't making contact with the GPU it may burn out fast. On my card they were about the same height so I put on a little extra AS5 to make sure I was getting good contact.

Is that the same as what came with your cooler? What part isn't detailed enough?

I have used Redline's Powerstrip 3.50, Radclocker, AtiTool, Rage3D Tweak, and Radlinker (can be downloaded alone or coupled with the Omega drivers from www.omegadrivers.net). I have to tell you that they all work just fine on my 9600xt, 9800pro and my latest x800pro. It really depends on which one you find as having "user-friendly" interface.

Now, with the max core/mem functionality......don't even trust those numbers because of different 3rd party card makers and the varying memory modules that they use. What I do is to keep searching clock numbers from other people's experiences on the internet specifically to the manufacturer, ie don't compare the overclockability of an x800 pro from visiontek to an x800 pro from ATI or Sapphire.
