Overclocking a PentiumII / MMX at 200MHz

According to the support at:
powerspec,
my P5TXb-pro jumper settings will allow me to get a maximum of 291.55 MHz (83.3 *3.5). What voltage should i use, and is OC'ing even worth it in this case?

I should point out that i have already lost one chip fan (replaced in the meantime with a RatShack fan/sink whose max is 200Mhz) in normal operation (+/-3yrs), and my power supply fan is out until i get a new one...

Thanks in advance!

errata:
pentium II MMX 200Mhz
win95
64 MB ram
default jumper settings: 66.6MHz * 2.5 = ~200MHz
default V: 2.8V

Is there even such a thing as a PII 200? i know there is a PII 233, i thought that was the lowest PII, i know there is a regular Pentium 200, I have one as a server on an Asus P5A running at 250 with no probs at all.. default voltage, 83 MHz BUS.
it wouldn't do 95 MHz BUS no matter how high i went with the voltage

You're using a Pentium MMX 200Mhz. I estimate you'll need 2.9V to run at 266Mhz. I strongly suggest you check your MB manual. Unless you want a fried HD, 83Mhz FSB would give your HD quite some stress at 41.5Mhz.

First, get some fans.

Good way to boost performance on pre PII pentiums is to increase bus speed and decrease multiplier (since it is unlocked). That way you are not actually 'overclocking' the CPU, but increasing the bus speed. I would recommend 3.0 x 75 (225) - but you'll have to see. Of course thats assuming the rest of your stuff can handle 75mhz FSB. I used to run my old P-MMX 233 at 225 on a 75mhz FSB and it ran better than 233 at 66mhz - go figure.

With my experience of overclocking the pentium 200 mmx( about 30 of them), I found out that the best stable and achievable speed is 3x83 = 250 mhz @3.0v with good components. Some old Maxtor hard drives cannot even run with a pci bus of 34 mhz.

Thanks everyone!

I got a lot of good advice, but before i take the plunge, i still have the off-topic problem of both my hard drives (3G WDC & 10G Maxtor) being in compatability mode. Once i get that fixed, then i'll be able to squeeze out a few more MHz.

---with my new fans of course.

thanks again.
