Overclocking a Pentium 100mhz *tear*

For those of you who still remember, how far could I overclock a pentium1 100mhz? I've overclocked it to 166 so far and it seems to be running smoothly, but I havn't stressed it much yet. Think I can get it up to 200?

I'm using this because it's all my school can afford to let me screw around with for this project... ='( And no, buying a new processor isn't an option. 😉

Wow !! that's a nice overclock.

I think you should feel lucky you got it to 166mhz,very lucky.

Try running prime95

lol, I'm guessing I shouldn't try 200 then... could I just try anyway? On these things is there any risk of damage?

I'll try prime95 sometime, hehe...

Is that your main computer?

im presuming not since he said thats all his school could afford to let him screw around with....makes it seem like its a "how to overclock" or something similar for school?

i say go for it lol

make sure the mobo has a clear cmos jumper though, and that you know how to use it (someimtes it differs from mobo to mobo/manufacturer to manufacturer)

That is too slow for anything except web surfing, unless you can overclock it to say 1ghz and fry the sucker. Maybe it deserves that for being such an obsolete/junk component. :Q

they sure as hel didnt think it was junk when it came out
i remember my p1 166mhz with mmx.....paid liek 1800bux canadian for :

p1 166mhz with mmx
2gb hd
32mb edo ram
onboard cirrus logic 2mb video
onboard crappy sound
33.6k modem (upgraded to 56k cuz of caps blowing up :Q...thank god for warranty lol)
15inch crt with attached speakers....that tells you how good they were lol

Is prometia that overclocking kit for Pentiums? lol, that's pretty useless since a new low-end processor like the AXP1700 would probably cost about the same.

I liked IBM's case design... at least on the GL300. Too bad I sold it to buy a different computer.

This one is one of those ones that sits on the desk. Not tower. Everything's jammed in there pretty tightly, and it's so old that it uses an expansion card for PCI and everything.
