Overclocking a laptop, is it possible?

I have a dell inspiron 8000, is it overclockable (the cpu) or is there just no way since standard bios doesnt have option?
Thanks

Check over at notebookforums.com and ask around over there. It'll depend on the notebook and chip though I'm guessing. I heard the Pentium M chips overclock. Not sure how easy it is though.

Search for how to do a u-wire mod on the socket. If you do it right it will increase the multiplier and run the processor at a higher frequency. But you cannot increase the voltage so you won't get too high.

You can increase voltage using another wire, but this won't work.

It's for 400MHz Pentium-M chips running on a 533MHz bus. If I remember correctly the Dell 8000 is a Pentium 4-M based system.

yes, but its not recommended. one member in this forum oc'd his notebook just last yr and it died on him.

I think heat would be a big issue there. The cooling is very limited & probably not up to any increased temps from OC'ing.
