I'm overclocking a K6-2 266 and trying to find the best setting. I can run it at 75X4=300Mhz or 83X3.5=290.5 What is the faster speed? The chip can run at 100Mhz so there is no stability problems either way, however the chip won't run stable at 83X4=332Mhz.

Thanks

The 3.5 X 83MHz setting looks to be the best. Since your K6-2 was running at such a low bus speed, you'd want to increase that as high as possible so that the cache on the motherboard would run faster. It's only 10MHz less in the CPU clock, but the increase in FSB speed more than makes up for the difference.

well my k2 400 runs at 550 @ 2.6 volts on a cheap @ss motherboard... so k2's do oc pretty well, but my celery 450a still kicks the crap outta it... it's used as an internet pc in the living room. peace out.

Here is a link to a site about o/cing the K6-2. I'm going to try to pop the cover off mine sometime this summer.
